ABOUT ME
Paul Heisel was born in Virginia and is a writer and author who specializes in thrillers, fantasy, and science fiction. He also dabbles in writing about Alaska and baseball. He grew up in the incredible state of Alaska, went to college at the Colorado School of Mines, and currently lives in Frisco, Texas. Prior to Texas, he lived in Ohio, moved to Washington State and resided for many years in the Seattle area, then moved to Melbourne, Australia. The different places he has lived serves as inspiration for his various stories.
When not writing and working for FM Global, Paul enjoys cooking and is an avid wine lover. He loves spending time with his family by their swimming pool and doing activities with his five children. Recently, he has become a car nut fueled by his passion for fast BMWs. Drive it like you stole it.
His first novel, First Frontier, was started in 1989. Curiously, the book is set in 2015 and is about the events leading up to the launch of the manned mission to Mars, the Frontier Project. At the time he began writing the story, 2015 seemed like a long time away.
His second novel, Tale of the Catstaff, is a work of fantasy he finished while living in Australia. It is about evil returning to the Lands and a lone warlock's quest to figure out how to banish the wraiths.
His third novel, An Emperor's Fury - Most Favored, is a work of fantasy set among two worlds connected by magic; one resembling a medieval land, the other resembles ancient feudal Japan and China. It is about a monk who is thrust into a world he doesn't understand and his efforts to stay alive long enough to get back to his own world, and to figure out why everyone believes he is a threat.
His fourth novel, An Emperor's Fury - The Frayed Rope, is the continuation of story above. It is about the monk coming to grips with what his bloodline represents and overcoming heartbreak because the woman he loves is magically enslaved to the Emperor.
His fifth novel, An Emperor's Fury - The Warlord of Pyndira, brings the first two novels to their energetic and disastrous conclusion. The best intentions always bring about terrible side effects.
His sixth novel, An Emperor's Fury - Legion (2019 release), is about the repercussions from the actions in the first three novels coming to haunt Pyndira, and the desperate measures that must be taken to make everything correct. A new threat awakens, and along with it the Demon Lords.
His other works are in a variety of states: The Keeper of the Deer series (fantasy, 9 books) is in a complete rewrite, his screenplay/teleplay (being co-written with his brother, Jeff) about junior college baseball is in constant flux (comedy and drama), he is rewriting his screenplay Mirror (futuristic science fiction) and the continuation of An Emperor's Fury is in the planning stages. And he will finish Siblings of the Catstaff one day.
